Multi Use Games Area opens in St Monans

Willie Rennie, Leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats and MSP for north east Fife opens the St Monans MUGA

A new Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) has opened in St Monans. The impressive outdoor sports zone was officially unveilled by Willie Rennie, Leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats and MSP for north east Fife amid much applause and excitement from the children of neighbouring St Monans Primary School.

The St Monans MUGA which has been over 10 years in the planning caters for several sporting activities including tennis, football and basketball for people of all ages. Specialist flood lighting means sports can be enjoyed on dark evenings without causing light pollution to nearby residents and the special synthetic surface will provide long lasting durability for years to come.

Although the MUGA was jointly funded by Fife Council, St Monans Community Trust and the Fife Environment Trust, both William Buchan of the Community Council and Willie Rennie thanked locals for their fundraising efforts and Abbeyford Leisure for its donation in meeting the shortfall that helped to make the St Monans MUGA a reality.
