The Mirador Cafe at Elie Holiday Park: shortlisted for Best Interior Design Award
A judging panel of experts visited Elie Holiday Park and shortlisted the new build café based on a tough selection criteria including invention, originality, complexity of brief and sustainability.
Joe Narsapur, Architect at Montgomery Forgan Associates who was instrumental in the design of the café said: "We were extremely inspired to receive Abbeyford Leisure's brief for this exciting and innovative addition to Elie Holiday Park and are delighted that The Mirador Café has been shortlisted."
John Fallows, Operations Director at Abbeyford Leisure and Project Manager for the build said: "We've worked closely with Montgomery Forgan Associates (MFA) for many years on several projects and were thrilled with how they interpreted our brief. We wanted something very special for The Mirador and sought to reflect the area's nautical connection with the Robinson Crusoe story. Together with builder G H Cook & Son Ltd, MFA delivered the project every step of the way.
"The result is a spectacular café and takeaway facility, complete with innovative maritime features including a contemporary rope partition wall which extends across the ceiling, glass pendants and atmospheric low level lighting complemented with modern seating. These quality accents and attention to detail combine to provide a first class environment that our owners, guests and visitors can enjoy for years to come. And to top it all, the barista-coffee is the best in Fife!"
Now in its third decade, the DIA Awards has undergone a rapid growth, which has also seen a dramatic increase in the quality of the overall submissions. The annual Awards promote architecture via education and engagement with the general public.
