Free football coaching sessions

St Andrews Utd FC is offering introductory football coaching for primary school aged children this summer. Following on from their recent announcement regarding sponsorship for the next couple of years, the football club and Abbeyford Leisure have come together in association with AM Soccer Club to offer this original opportunity to youngsters in the St Andrews, Cupar and East Neuk areas. And the offer is open equally to local kids, holiday home owners and holidaymakers, so it’s a great chance to make new friends, as well as practise footballing skills.

And there’s an added bonus, as taking part also entitles the youngster and a parent to FREE entry to one of St Andrews United’s pre-season friendlies, in the lead-up to the new football season. The hour-long sessions are taking place at Abbeyford Leisure’s Elie Holiday Park, and at Recreation Park, home of St Andrews Utd on Langlands Road in the town.

Elie Holiday Park at Shell Bay:
Tues 16 July, 6pm-7pm
Sat 27 July, 10.30am-11.30am

Includes Free entry to St Andrews Utd v Dyce, Sat 27 July, 1.30pm kick-off.

St Andrews United, Recreation Park, St Andrews:
Tues 23 July, 6pm-7pm or
Sat 3 Aug, 10.30am-11.30am - please register for this final session asap

Includes free entry to St Andrews Utd v Links Utd, Sat 3 Aug, 2.30pm kick-off.

Coaching will be led by local St Andrews Utd star players, Jamie Mackie and Craig Wedderburn (pictured). Both started their careers with First Division Raith Rovers, and Jamie is already a football coach with the local youth team. We are all grateful to them for giving their time freely to encourage young footballers.

Abbeyford Leisure Chairman, David Evans, is delighted at the partnership: “Abbeyford Leisure is a local business, benefiting both the local community and the tourist community, and so we are delighted to help bring both groups together under the banner of football. We encourage the healthy, outdoor lifestyle, sport is a big part of that and we look forward to inviting new faces to enjoy Elie Holiday Park.”

Football club secretary, Mark Johnson, also recognises the value of activities like this: “St Andrews Utd is always keen to find ways to attract people to our national sport in general, and to Recreation Park in particular. And who knows, we might just unearth a star of the future through this programme.”

To reserve your place at one of the four sessions, please call Elie Holiday Park on 01333 330 283.
