Important update
19kg gas bottle shortage
As most of you will be aware, there has been a considerable shortage of 19kg gas bottles this year.We are doing everything we possibly can to ensure the timely delivery of supplies and are in constant contact with Calor, but the situation is becoming increasingly challenging and is affecting many holiday parks.
MSP engagement
We have also met with our local MSP for North East Fife, Willie Rennie, who in turn has written to the UK Energy Minister and Calor directly as a matter or urgency. In addition, we have approached other suppliers to see if they can supply gas to us. We will continue to explore this option, but lead times can be long.Calor have informed us there is a general shortage of bottles and the problem is nationwide, suffice to say, Calor are unable to deliver what we order, furthermore, this is likely to continue for some time to come.
47kg bottles more readily available
However, the supply of 47kg gas bottles appears to be more readily available – but for how long, remains unknown.Because of the 19kg gas bottle supply issue, I am pleased to confirm that we will be opening-up the option for customers to purchase 47kg bottles instead. This will be available across the vast majority of the Park with the exception of 1-9 Eden Heights, which, due to pitch locations and steep topography makes safe delivery of larger 47kg cylinders impossible.
Should you decide to change to 47kg bottles, there are a few things that need to happen to do this safely (please see our step-by-step guide further below).
It is important to emphasise that this may be a short-term solution and the same issues we are experiencing with 19kg bottles could affect 47kg bottles too.
A Gas Safe Engineer is required to carry out the works and this involves:
- moving the regulator above the shroud of the 47kg bottle,
- ensuring that the main gas feed from the regulator to the holiday home is long enough,
- changing the set-up from a 4-way to 2-way regulator (where applicable) and testing.
If you decide to change to 47kg bottles and have a 19kg on order, please keep the bottle on order until your set-up has been changed. At this point you can call reception, cancel the bottle and receive a refund for the cost of the bottle.
Should you have any questions, please feel free to call reception on 01334 474 250 who will be more than happy to assist you further.
Procedure for switching to 47kg gas bottles
If you'd like to switch to 47kg gas bottles, please follow steps 1 and 2:
- Call reception on 01334 474 250 and order 47kg gas bottles (£107 each). Gas bottles will be tagged and safely stored in the gas compound. Should the bottles be out of stock, you can still order them and we will contact you when they arrive on-park.
- Email an approved gas contractor (see below) to arrange changeover from your 19kg bottles to 2 x 47kg bottles. They will confirm a cost with you and this should be in region of £120 including vat.
- We will modify your wooden gas post to accommodate 47kg bottles (free of charge).
- The approved gas contractor will inform reception when they intend to change bottles over.
- We will deliver 47kg bottles to your pitch and will remove the 19kg bottles on the date given to us by the approved gas contractor.
- The approved gas contractor will connect your 47kg bottles and conduct the necessary safety checks and issue a gas safety certificate.

We are currently experiencing delays in the delivery of gas bottles from our key supplier, Calor Gas, which, unfortunately is out of our control. This national problem is affecting all UK gas bottle suppliers (not just Calor), business customers such as holiday parks and ultimately owners of holiday home caravans. As such - and as Calor are unable to meet our normal demand - we politely request that you only place an order with reception when your holiday home is running on the last bottle of gas. To best manage demand on our parks, we reserve the right not to deliver gas if a holiday home has more than one full bottle. We do also ask that all owners minimise gas use during this challenging time. Please rest assured that we are in continued dialogue with Calor to maintain deliveries wherever possible and are also exploring gas bottle deliveries with alternative suppliers. Thank you for your understanding.

Please remember to arrange the winterisation (drain down) of your holiday home. If you have not already been contacted by one of our approved plumbing contractors detailed below, we advise that you make contact as soon as possible to secure your winterisation dates:
- Dave McQueen – [email protected]
- Kevin Cannon – [email protected]
- James Aird – [email protected]
- Angus Caravans – [email protected] (St Andrews Holiday Park only)
Please ensure that park reception have a key on file for contractor access.
In general, contractors will winterise your holiday home on, or just after your leaving date, and will reconnect the water system and conduct a test for your return date in the new season. This will ensure that the water is drained from all of the pipes and that the appropriate level of antifreeze is used in the central heating system to protect from the frost.
We do not recommend carrying out the drain down procedure yourself as you will be responsible for any burst water pipes, damages to your boiler and any subsequent related damages. Any damages caused by self winterisation could invalidate your Landlord’s Gas Safety Inspection Certificate and any outstanding warranty.
Further advice can be found within our Owner's Guide.
